Make-A-Wish Week

Monday November 1st - Make-A-Wish Assembly after 2nd period in the Main Gym.  Wednesday November 3rd - Manhawk (teams of boys performing dances for our Make-A-Wish child) 7:00pm in the Main Gym. Cost is $5 per person. Friday November 5th - Drive-in Movie beginning 6:45-7:00pm in the East Parking Lot. Cost is $10 per car. Monday November 8th - The Great Skyhawk Gorge 5:30-7:30pm in the gyms and surrounding hallways. Cost is $5 per person or $20 per family (immediate family, up to six people).
This year our Make-A-Wish child is Emory Harris. She's almost three years old and had a brain tumor.

Make a Wish week is coming up! This is one of the biggest events of the year for our community.  Please view the weekly activities & attend when and were you are available!

Corom's Corner Double Detention Days

Wednesdays After School 2:30 - 3:30pm Meet in Room D104, Earn Double Detention Time! Students must serve a minimum of 30 minutes

We are excited to announce that Wellness Wednesdays have returned!  Students have the opportunity to attend Academic Recovery Time (detention) with our school social worker, Corom Hughes each Wednesday after school from 2:30-3:30pm in room D107.

Corom's Corner will be full of mental wellness discussions and activities in order to help with student's overall well-being.

To sweeten the deal even more, students will be able to earn double detention time on Wednesdays only.  Students will need to spend a minimum of 30 minutes in order to earn the double time.  Students are encouraged to stay the entire hour.

Heart of a Skyhawk Principal's Pin Award

Earn an awesome Heart of a Skyhawk Principal Pin, to add to your letterman's jacket, FFA jacket, resume etc...

  • Attend at least seven school events to support other programs/students. 
    • Go to school events & positively cheer on your peers! 
    • This cannot include those sports/activities that you participate in.
  • Complete a minimum of one service oriented activity that helps the school 
    • Examples: food drives, pick up trash in the parking lot, offer to help with special events - Make a Wish etc
  • To earn your pin complete the following:
    • Take a photo of the event you are attending
    • Post to instagram & tag @salem_hills as well as use the #’s:
      • #shhsheartofaskyhawk #shhsoneheartbeat
        • If you do not have instagram take pictures and show them to one of the administrators!

Once you have completed all eight events (7 activities + 1 service) schedule a meeting with one of the administrators to review your involvement!

Double Detention Day

Monday Makeup Double Detention Day - October 18th 1:15-4:00pm

Students will be able to earn detention time during Monday Makeup on October 18th!

For each teacher/class that you visit, receive 30 minutes of detention time!  Follow the guidelines/procedures below!

  1. Visit one of your teachers & work on missing assignments, etc. for a MINIMUM of 15 minutes
  2. Collect a signature from your teacher
  3. Repeat until you have seen as many teachers/classes as possible!
  4. Turn this slip into the attendance office no later than Wednesday, October 20th

Monday Makeup Day

Monday Makeup Day October 18th 1:15-4:00pm

Join us for Monday Makeup Day to finish of term 1 with success!  Teachers will be available to meet with students from 1:15-4:00pm on Monday, October 18th.  The end of term 1 is on Thursday, October 21st.

Fine Arts Recognition

We are excited to announce that Salem Hills High School has received the 2021-22 National Performing Arts School of Excellence Award, given to one school in the nation every year 🏆

One recipient of the NFHS Performing Arts School of Excellence is chosen for their schools exemplary commitment to the performing arts and are honored in October to celebrate National #HSActivitiesMonth

"The UHSAA is thrilled to have the NFHS recognize Salem Hills High School, and the Association also congratulates Salem Hills on their continued success in the performing arts," said UHSAA Executive Director Rob Cuff. "Salem Hills is a tremendous example of the continued focus UHSAA member schools have on creating a diverse, education-based activities experience for students.
