Jen Hughes - Inspiring Cross Country Coach of the Year Award

Congratulations to our very own, Coach Jen Hughes, who was recently given the Inspiring Cross Country Coach of the Year award from Brooks Running company! As stated by Senior Sports Marketing Specialist, Jordan Hamm: "Each year, the Brooks Running Inspiring Coaches Program honors and rewards high school track and cross country coaches that inspire the next generation of runners. These coaches go above and beyond in their community. They are the tide that raises all boats. Throughout the last 7 months, we received hundreds of nominations from athletes, faculty, parents, and community members recognizing their high school coach as someone who has inspired them to be a better version of themselves." Coach Jen was selected as one of the 4 coaches recognized nationwide. This is such an incredible award and achievement!

Jen has been described by her athletes as someone who "cares so much about all of her athletes" and someone who "makes us work hard and believe in ourselves to be better in every race. She loves each of her runners and is super sweet. She tries her hardest to train us to be better for our races." This award is more than deserved and we are beyond grateful for what Coach Jen does for our school and community. As one of the original coaches/employees at Salem Hills High, and being a Volunteer of the Year for Salem City this year, Jen positively impacts the lives of so many people around her. We love Coach Jen and appreciate who she is, and what she does!

Runnerspace will produce a short film about Jen and this award that will be available to view on National Coaches Day, October 6th, 2023. We look forward to seeing this short film and continuing to celebrate the amazing person Coach Jen is!
