Carnegie Hall Choir

A little over one month ago, on March 28, 2022, 105 Students, representing all five Salem Hills High School Choirs, had the opportunity of singing in Carnegie Hall in New York City. Their performance was part of the Manhattan Concert Production concert, “Songs of Struggle and Reconciliation,” featuring high school and university choirs from around the country. Our students were part of an over 300-voice choir that sang Antonio Vivaldi’s “Gloria,” with the New York Chamber Orchestra, under the direction of Dr. Stephen Paulk from Eastern New Mexico University.
Our performance was part of a 5-day tour of New York City—a tour we were originally scheduled to embark on 2 years ago, in March 2020. Between March 25-29, the students, who travelled with 50 of their parents, were also able to perform in St. Patrick’s Cathedral, St. John the Divine, Our Lady of Victory Church, and the LDS Riverside Park Ward.
It was a delight to spend this time together in New York City, after two years without any opportunity for student travel. Students faced new challenges, fun new experiences, and received incredible instruction to prepare for their Carnegie performance.
More than anything, the joy of experiencing all that NYC has to offer together, is something none of us will ever forget.

Thank you to everyone for your support of our choir program and the wonderful students. We are indebted for the support and love we have received from our community. We are lucky to have such amazing supporters!
