"A good leader can engage in a debate frankly and thoroughly, knowing that at the end he and the other side must be closer, and thus emerge stronger. You don't have that idea when you are arrogant, superficial, and uninformed." --Nelson Mandella

"Our business in life is not to get ahead of others but to get ahead of ourselves--to break our own records, to outstrip our yesterdays by our today, to do our work with more force than ever before."

Howard Cosell, the great sports broadcaster, once said, "The ultimate victory in competition is derived from the inner satisfaction of knowing that you have done your best and that you have gotten the most out of what you had to give." When I read this quote this week, it reminded me of our students here at SHHS. We have so many students who embody the essence of this quote; from members of our drill team to our wrestlers, our artists, scholars, and basketball players all seem to strive to give their best.

Preparing for the March 3rd ACT

Submitted by wade.tischner on

We have a couple of great options for students who would like to prepare for this upcoming ACT on March 3rd.  The first is our ACT Prep Class, taught the last two Saturdays in February from 8:00am until 12:00, the cost is $50.  The other option is on Line using Shmoop, no I don't know how they came up with that name but Shmoop is an online test prep site that has shown very good results in increasing our students ACT scores.  The state of Utah has purchased rights for every student in the state to use this resource, so the best news is that it is free.
