SHHS wrestlers going to State Tournament

Wrestlers (left to right) McKayd Gordon, Phillip Sorensen, Chase Wilson, Derek Mangelson, Spencer Davis These Manly wrestlers grappled their way to victory. But for these few the season is not over yet, they must compete in state. These wrestlers are not newbies to state wrestling tournaments, They have all been to state and have extreme success. There is much expected of these young men. But Salem Hills wrestling team and their head coach T.J. Brindley believes in them strongly. These Salem Hills Wrestlers will go to state with confidence or as the Skyhawks from Salem Hills would say, they are going with SPIRIT, HEART, HONOR, AND SUCCESS. Go fight win Skyhawks.

Athletes of the Week

Congratulations to our Athletes of the week!

Our athletes of the week are:

Jackson Quist-boys lacrosse
Jackson stepped up big time in our game against Spanish Fork when we were short handed. He won some key faceoffs and helped us get back into the game in the second half.

Taira Anderson-girls lacrosse
Taira scored 3 goals and added 1 assist last week in a 9-7 loss to Bountiful and an 8-6 win over Spanish Fork. Taira provides critical leadership and is versatile as we often move her back on defense in the 4th quarter to solidify and galvanize the defense in crunch time. She has been crucial this entire year including the off-season, pre-season, and in-season leading work outs, attending every opportunity, and providing vocal and inspirational leadership. She is an invaluable member of our team, the consummate teammate and ideal captain.

Navy Hubbs-golf
Freshman Navy Hubbs fired a 77 at The Oaks at Spanish Fork to finish 2nd in our region match this week and also to help the team place second in the match.

I'm happy to nominate Allyson Beardall. She is a senior who is diligent and very capable. She comes to class regularly and participates in writing exercises and takes notes and gives me all the good student vibes.

Math Scholar

Organization: Math-Amber Capell

Luke Henry deserves Math Scholar of the Week because he is always engaged, focused, and striving to find better ways to think mathematically. Luke enjoys sharing his problem-solving strategies with his group and with the class, and listens to others' ideas to deepen his own mathematical knowledge. He is always excited to come to class, and his enthusiasm for learning spreads throughout the classroom.
