"Homecoming means coming home to what is in your heart." --Author Unknown

This week is homecoming week at SHHS, and the excitement in the school is palpable. Though our school is just six years old, a rich tradition and culture has been established here, and one of the cool things about a young school, and any school for that matter, is that we all get to play a part in the development and dissemination of our school's traditions and culture. So be a part of homecoming week, and come and celebrate the creation and sharing of our school's traditions and culture, not only this week but in the weeks, months, and years to come.

Skyhawk Highlights:

SHHS Girls' Soccer: The girls lost to Springville HS in a nail biter on Tuesday afternoon. The score seesawed back and forth until Springville eventually won the contest 5-4. Their Thursday night game sadly ended with the win going to Wasatch HS by a score of 2-0. Though the scores didn't finish in the favor of the Skyhawks, both games were reminiscent of Coach Lombardi's famous quote: "We didn't lose the game, we just ran out of time." The girls have had a great year, they've played some great soccer, and have represented our school well, and they still have a chance at a play-in game if Spanish Fork HS beats Springville HS today.

SHHS Girl's Tennis: The girls' tennis team did well at their region tournament. Four girls are going to state. Kenzi Hancock and Maddi Wanner are going to state as individual competitors, and Amanda Ith and Isabel Brockbank are going to compete as doubles. The JV team did well at the region JV tournament. There were 120 girls in the tournament, and out of the 17 that competed for SHHS, 13 placed. The future looks great for SHHS Girls' Tennis!

SHHS Cross Country: The team ran well in Park City in their last tune up meet before they run their region meet this Saturday at Kiwanis Park in Provo.

SHHS Volleyball: The girls' volleyball team had a bit of a rough go against Timpview last Tuesday night, losing 3-0; however, as they always seem to do, they rebounded great against Spanish Fork High winning 3 games to 1. They concluded their week of play by placing seventh out of 30 teams at the Bingham Tournament. The girls next face Springville at Springville HS on Tuesday evening at 6:30.

SHHS Boys' Football:  The football team had one of their hardest fought victories to date, rallying late to come from twelve points down in the fourth quarter to beat Orem HS, 27-26. Key defensive plays sparked the come-back win. Next up, the team faces the Springville Red Devils here on Friday night for homecoming.

SHHS Band: The band traveled to Logan last week to participate in a competition at USU. They continue to improve as young band members get more and more experience in competition. They next travel to Herriman to compete on Tuesday evening.

SHHS Student Body  Officers: The high school underwent a complete transformation over the weekend, and everything has been transformed into various games one might find in a classic arcade. Pac-Man, Mario, and even a few Angry Birds, in addition to several others, have taken up residence in the school, and it is truly an awesome sight to behold. Our SBO's did a fabulous job transforming our school into an arcade for homecoming week.

  • For all parents, and especially those of sophomores, ALL detentions must be made up prior to a new term beginning to be eligible to participate in extracurricular activities and sports.
  • Detention will be held before school, during lunch, and after school in room C209 with Ms. Houghton.
  • Our administrative team continues to offer detention time after school for students interested in biking, running, lifting weights and doing cross fit. The program is called Double Time, and students can earn double the detention time for participating.
