Greetings Salem Hills High Students and Parents!

I am excited to welcome you to the new school year.  We have a wonderful school.  Many of you are experienced veterans of SHHS.  Some of you are brand new to our school.  I’m sure that the new students will find out quickly that there is a special culture here that encourages everyone to unite together to reach our goals.  I would encourage all of you to get involved in as many activities as you can and support all school activities with Skyhawk pride which will help us reach even greater heights together!

This year we are focusing on standard based grading and helping students take responsibility for their learning.  In order to accomplish this we have identified some vital behaviors for students and parents.  For students, please be in class on time and be prepared to learn the desired outcomes for the day.  For parents we would ask you to only excuse legitimate absences, check SIS regularly, and realize that we are all on the same team.  From our end we will use best practices in our teaching, communicate to you through SIS at least weekly what your students have learned and provide additional time and resources for students who need it.  We hope that by all of us working together we can improve student learning.

School will begin on Wednesday, August 19, 2015.  We will start promptly at 7:50 a.m. and finish at 2:25 p.m. Our normal school day (M-T-Th-F) will be from 7:50 a.m.–2:25 p.m. Each Wednesday will be a teacher collaboration day with a shortened schedule (7:50 a.m. – 1:40 p.m.).  Our faculty and staff have been preparing for your arrival and all of us are looking forward to an exciting year with you.

This packet contains information that will assist you with the registration process. Please be sure to read through this information carefully.  If you have any unanswered questions, please call the school at 801-423-3200 or access our School Web Site at www.shhs.nebo.edu.

 Sincerely,

 Bart Peery
