Jenett Houghton: SHHS Social Studies Teacher

Q:  Where were you born?

A:  Salt Lake City

Q:  Were you named after anyone?

A:  No one in particular, but my dad chose the spelling.  Then, one day I was looking through some genealogy and saw a Jenetta listed.  I asked my dad about her and he was not aware of her, but it's interesting that he still came up with the spelling for my name similar to this distant family member.

Q:  What made you get into teaching?

A:  In the back of my mind, I have always wanted to teach.  I was involoved in a career in banking and started to feel like I needed to do something different.  I felt that I needed to go back to school and get another degree in teaching.  I chose history because I enjoyed the psychology and ivestigation of it.  I love teaching because I love to learn.

Q:  Do you have a special talent?

A:  I make a pretty yummy baked potato soup (mmmm bacon, sour cream, butter and cheese).

Q:  What is the farthest you have been from home?

A:  Outer Banks, North Carolina and Jamaica

A:  Whether or not they are smiling.

A:  Les Miserables

Q: Favorite sports to watch?

A: Football

Q:  What was the last book you read?

A:  Currently reading, 'Psychological Testing: History, Principles and Applications' (yes, this is a textbook.)
